REASAERCH GROUP

The Group is being reviewed.

Brazilian Soil Spectroscopy Group

Objective: The initiative of having this group came from the pressing need of strengthening the national scientific community in this theme. The group basis came from the project already in course Brazilian Soil Spectral Library, and it has many goals to accomplish: (a) making a Spectral Library of Brazil; (b) establishing and consolidating a community that starts to understand and actually use soil spectroscopy; (c) studying the usefulness of this powerful tool using soil data from all around Brazil; (d) knowing the Brazilian soil diversity; (e) and allowing an interaction between researchers in this area. Studies of soils from a different range of places in Brazil are related in many works. There are many potential applications of reflectance spectroscopy in Soil Science, such as: an analytical technique; a monitoring and evaluation soil tool, in traditional and digital soil mapping; in modeling soil attributes; in attributes quantification; and others. Publications: the group already counts with wide national repercussion in publishing. On the other hand, in order to spread and strengthen the group, the formation of new researchers, especially internationally articulated, is evident. In this sense, the current group aims to strengthen itself to achieve this purpose. The spectrum range studied will be the broadest possible, among them the vis-nir-wir-tir-far. The group comprises specialists at the field and other collaborators who are starting the work.
