HISTORIC

The first spectral library was developed in 80’s with Stoner and Baumgader (1981) with North American and Brazilian soils, thereafter many works were published in this area. When it comes to Brazil, the first spectral library was developed by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) in 1992. At University level the first spectral library was made by the Soil Science Department at Luiz de Queiroz College – University o São Paulo in 1992. Nowadays the importance of this topic is increasing, enhanced by the international movement (Australia, Europe, USA, África, etc) with many spectral libraries being developed.
